CJS struggled to keep track of pre-surgery paperwork and clearances as everything was stored  in paper files and scattered throughout the office. They had no way to access information when patients or hospitals called to verify details. It was also difficult for schedulers to cover for one another since the booking process was complicated and the information and files needed were stored in multiple locations.

In 2008, CJS implemented Surgimate to streamline communications, eliminate all manual  paperwork and designate one single location for all surgical information to be stored and easily accessible to anyone in the practice.
